Rancho Obi-Wan is an homage to all things Star Wars. Located on a ranch in Northern California, it houses the world’s largest private collection of memorabilia based on George Lucas’ sci-fi empire.
The place has everything from original film props to models and collectible lunch boxes. There’s even a bike kitted out with a Darth Vader horn and other Star Wars accessories. So far, Rancho Obi-Wan has cataloged 95,000 items, but its operators estimate they have more than 300,000 things in the massive collection.
A nonprofit, Rancho Obi-Wan gives tours to school groups, geeks and, luckily, Wired video teams. It’s all about giving back to the Star Wars community. Check out the awesome collection in our video tour led by Steve Sansweet, chief executive of Rancho Obi-Wan and the biggest Star Wars fan in the galaxy.
And if you’d like to start a collection of your own, check out this eBay auction of 1,950 Star Wars action figures. Fon Davis, a longtime model maker at Industrial Light & Magic, donated the collectibles, with the auction’s proceeds going to benefit Rancho Obi-Wan.
